Online, people see and know me as Dev. Offline, Alex. Outside of the game, I've a lovely wife of eight years that I met playing Call of Cthulhu and two kids, one of which has a genetic disorder--trisomy 9 mosaicism.
My first TTRPG was CoC 6e, back in high school, in the player's seat. At some point in those years I also ran a D&D 3e adventure, Sunless Citadel. Around the time I was entering college, I joined an online group with some friends I'd made in a forum for a D&D 4e game, which eventually transitioned into D&D 5e once that released in 2014. Once I entered the DM seat for 5e, I'd remain there for about eight years, near the end of which I also would play in or run short adventures in some novel games like Stars Without Number, Dark Heresy 2e, and Soulbound, among others.
Sometime in late 2022, I got an itch to try out AD&D 1e to see how closely, if at all, it matched the memes I'd seen over the decades. I quickly found out that a lot--a looooooot--of those memes were exactly that: memes. First and foremost that generating stats is not done with 3d6 down-the-line in 1e. I found a wonderful DM that was also trying to learn 1e and cultivated a table around that concept; I played with them for about a year before spinning off my own campaign in that same setting, keeping in touch with the DM and exchanging notes occasionally.
I can be reached on Discord (as deviantyte) and Bluesky. Let me know how you found me so that I don't assume you're a bot.
